Job summary

Alternative Services Connecticut, Inc. is seeking a Residential Instructor to supervise consumers and support program operations daily. You will implement behavior plans, document progress, and maintain a safe, engaging home environment.

You will document activities in Therap, prepare reports, and ensure adherence to DDS policies, medication protocols, and safety procedures while collaborating with staff and guardians to support consumer dignity and progress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis; education may substitute year-for-year.
• Valid driver's license and ability to be insured; may travel using agency or personal vehicle.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene as needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor consumer behavior and implement behavior management or other programs; document on forms.
• Document shift activities and incidents in Therap.
• Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and appearance of the home; conduct safety inspections and minor repairs; alert supervisor to major problems.
• Maintain professional attitude with coworkers, management, external agencies, etc.
• Know and follow agency policies, including medication administration, key control, IPs, evacuation and licensing requirements.
• Complete incident reports promptly; participate in investigations as directed.
• Adhere to Connecticut DDS, ASI, and other agency policies; fulfill delegated responsibilities and report at staff meetings.
• Assist in shopping, meal prep, and table setup when on duty.
• Attend trainings and provide training as required; participate in staff meetings.
