Job summary

Alternative Services Connecticut, Inc. is seeking a Residential Instructor to supervise consumers daily, ensure safety and welfare, and implement agency policies.

You will document activities, manage medications, coordinate with staff, and provide activities. Requires high school diploma, two years DD experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum possession of a High School Diploma or a G.E.D.
• Minimum two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis; education substituted year-for-year.
• Valid driver license and ability to be insured; may travel using Agency vehicle or own vehicle.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, PMT and DDS State Medication Administration certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, transfer and physically intervene with individuals.

Responsibilities

• Monitor consumer behavior and manage programs; document on forms.
• Document shift activities and incidents in Therap.
• Provide programmatic and statistical reports.
• Maintain safety, appearance and cleanliness of home; conduct inspections.
• Distribute medications according to schedule and guidelines.
• Provide activities or programs for consumers each shift.
• Act as advocate and role model; treat individuals with respect and dignity.
• Assist in supervising and safely transporting residents to activities.
• Follow emergency procedures for fire, hurricanes, outages, incidents.
• Attend in-service training and provide training for staff.
