Alternative Services Connecticut, Inc seeks a Residential Instructor to supervise consumers daily and run program operations. You will ensure progress is tracked, and agency policies and DDS guidelines are followed to keep residents safe and engaged.

The role requires documenting activities, handling incidents, and coordinating with staff for transportation and community activities. A strong commitment to dignity and respect for consumers is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or similar. Education can substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured for daily work.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain certifications in CPR, First Aid, PMT and DDS State Medication Administration.

Responsabilités

• Monitor consumer behavior and implement behavior management programs; document all activities.
• Document shift activities and incidents in the log and in Therap.
• Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and appearance of home; conduct sanitation and safety inspections; make minor repairs or notify supervisor of major problems.
• Maintain a professional attitude with coworkers and external agencies.
• Know and follow agency policies and procedures governing operations, including medication administration policies and emergency procedures.
• Complete incident reports promptly regarding incidents involving consumers and workers’ compensation as applicable.
• Implement and adhere to policies and commitments to consumers required by agencies and DDS.
• Fulfill delegated responsibilities and report at staff meetings as required.
• Act as an advocate and role model for consumers; treat individuals with respect and dignity.
• Assist with hygiene needs of consumers.
• Document activity pertaining to consumer welfare, including movements, incidents, seizures, medication administration, and notable behavioral changes.
• Distribute all medications per each consumer’s schedule and guidelines.
• Provide activities or programs for consumers during shifts; organize and supervise interactions with consumers at home and other group homes.
• Provide counseling or reinforcement to address progress and issues.
• Assist in supervising and safely transporting residents to activities and programs.
• Know and follow emergency home procedures for various incidents affecting residents.
