Job summary

Alternative Services Connecticut, Inc. is seeking a Residential Instructor to supervise consumers, implement care programs, and ensure safety and welfare within the home environment.

You will document activities in Therap, maintain logs, and provide reports while adhering to agency policies and DDS guidelines. Strong interpersonal skills and physical capability are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain it.
  • Must be able to travel in the course of daily work using Agency vehicle or own vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene with individuals as required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor consumer behavior and implement behavior management programs as applicable.
  • Document shift activities and incidents in the log and on consumers in Therap.
  • Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required.
  • Maintain safety, appearance and cleanliness of home and conduct sanitation inspections.
  • Maintain professional attitude with co-workers, management, outside agencies, etc.
  • Know and follow DDS policies and procedures governing operations, including medication administration policies and emergency procedures.
  • Complete incident reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Adhere to all program policies and commitments to consumers as required by DDS and other agencies.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training as available.
