Job summary

Alternative Services Connecticut, Inc. seeks a Residential Instructor to supervise consumers daily, ensure program operations, and maintain a safe home environment. You will document progress, follow agency policies, and foster dignity and respect for participants.

You will implement behavior support plans, provide activities for consumers, and assist in transportation to community activities while adhering to safety and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum possession of a High School Diploma or a G.E.D.
• Minimum two years experience working with individuals with developmentally disabilities or that are dually diagnosed; substitutions possible with education.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to be insured for employment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, PMT and DDS State Medication Administration certifications.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and provide physical support when needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor consumer behavior and implement behavior management programs, documenting all actions.
• Document shift activities and incidents in log and in Therap.
• Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required.
• Maintain safety, appearance, and cleanliness of the home; conduct inspections and minor repairs.
• Protect consumer rights and follow all agency policies and procedures.
• Assist and transport residents to community activities and daily programs.
