Job summary

Housing Opportunities Unlimited seeks a Relocation Coordinator to oversee daily relocation tasks, working closely with residents to prepare and assist them with relocation activities. You will liaise with third-party vendors and manage data collection and reporting while maintaining a service-first approach.

The role requires coordinating move schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong communication with clients, residents, and partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in relocation services or related fields preferred.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, clients, and residents.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee surveying residents to understand relocation needs and preferences.
• Convene resident/community meetings to discuss relocation process and rights.
• Prepare and distribute notices; ensure proof of receipt.
• Provide relocation counseling in line with regulations.
• Coordinate information flow between HOU, Property Management, Client, and Residents.
• Provide weekly/monthly reports and maintain relocation files and data tracking.
• Create agendas for weekly Relocation Meetings and circulate minutes within 48 hours.
• Notify residents of move dates and provide ongoing support.
• Arrange moves, packing/unpacking, and utility changes as needed.
• Schedule and supervise moves and related tasks (pest control, turnover, etc.).
• Coordinate with construction and management teams to ensure vacated units and secure keys.
• Minimize property damage; document inventory with photos/videos; address damage claims.
• Interface with resident families and social services to ensure seamless services.
• Represent HOU to agencies, industry groups, and communities as needed.
• Participate in supervision and site meetings with APM.
• Ensure relocation files are complete and data systems updated.
• Assist households with special accommodation needs and eligibility for relocation benefits.
• Provide information on local services and transportation to facilitate relocation.
• Assist households with school transfers when required.
• Coordinate with Section 8 on inspections and leases (if applicable).
• Conduct info sessions on being a good neighbor and Section 8 processes (if applicable).
• Help households with budgeting and housekeeping and refer for financial assistance.
