HomeFirst seeks a Resident Advocate for the Motel Program in San Jose to manage day-to-day on-site operations, support participants, and ensure safety and service delivery. You will coordinate access to services, help participants develop housing plans, and facilitate workshops, all within harm-reduction and trauma-informed frameworks.

The role emphasizes empathy, rapid response to crises, and collaboration with staff to meet participants’ housing stability goals in a high-demand shelter setting.

Formación

• AA degree (or equivalent of 2 years of higher education) or two years of field experience in social services.
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals and families.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 30 lbs.

Responsabilidades

• Direct client service and on-site supervision of program participants and guests.
• Document services in HMIS within 3 business days.
• Complete intake including VI-SPDAT assessments and housing plan development.
• Promote and lead weekly workshops on topics like financial literacy and tenant rights.
• De-escalate crises using Mental Health First Aid techniques when applicable.
• Maintain site safety, perform checks of cabins and perimeter, and ensure confidentiality.
