Job summary

James River Equipment in North Carolina is seeking a Rental Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day rental operations across our NC footprint. You will ensure fleet availability, rent-ready status, and consistent branch execution while aligning with fleet strategy and vendor programs.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in equipment rental operations, experience leading multiple locations, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. Travel between branches is expected.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in equipment rental operations.
• Experience coordinating teams across multiple locations.
• Experience with rental management software; Integrated Rental (IR) preferred.
• Proven ability to write and enforce standard procedures and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Monitor fleet availability across locations and direct inter-branch transfers to meet customer demand.
• Partner with service to track and improve rent-ready turnaround and repair priorities.
• Enforce check-in/check-out inspection standards and oversee damage and loss recovery.
• Implement standard rental procedures and SOPs at every branch, and conduct audits.
• Drive billing accuracy and resolve escalated customer and operational issues.
• Coach and develop rental coordinators and counter staff across the region.

Reporting to the Rental Director, you will keep the fleet available, rent-ready, and in the right place, and make sure every branch runs rental the same way. Leadership sets fleet strategy, capital plans, and vendor programs; you turn that direction into daily results at the branch level.A Day in the Life: Rental Operations ManagerMonitor fleet availability across all locations and direct inter-branch transfers to meet customer demand.Partner with service to track and improve rent-ready turnaround and repair priorities.Enforce check-in/check-out inspection standards and oversee damage and loss recovery.Implement standard rental procedures and SOPs at every branch, and conduct regular branch visits and audits.Drive billing accuracy and resolve escalated customer and operational issues.Serve as lead user and trainer for our rental system (Integrated Rental), keeping fleet and contract data accurate.Track branch KPIs and deliver a monthly operations summary to the Rental Director.Coach and develop rental coordinators and counter staff across the region.Need to SucceedFive or more years of experience in equipment rental operations, with at least two years leading or coordinating teams across multiple locations.Working knowledge of rental fleet management: utilization, transfers, make-ready, inspections, and damage recovery.Experience with rental management software; Integrated Rental (IR) experience strongly preferred.Proven ability to write and enforce standard procedures and hold others accountable for results.Comfortable working with data: tracking KPIs, auditing records, and building clear reports and recommendations.Knowledge of John Deere and/or competitive construction and rental equipment is preferred.Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Valid driver's license, with the ability to be insured on the company policy and to travel regularly between branches.Above all, we are seeking a friendly team player who has an outstanding work ethic, a willingness to continue learning and growing personally and professionally, and enjoys contributing to a positive work environment!About the BenefitsJoining the team at James River Equipment means you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits, many of which start on day one of your employment with us.
