Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group seeks an Underwriting Specialist Specialty – Merit Specialty (Wholesale) to join its E&S Casualty team. You will identify, underwrite, and sell new and renewal Specialty accounts with wholesale partners, driving profitable growth while aligning with appetite and mix goals.

This full-time, exempt role supports flexible work arrangements—remote or hybrid nationwide (excluding NY/CA).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Generally, 3-7+ years Specialty or standard commercial lines experience.
• 3-4+ years’ experience driving agency relationships resulting in profitable new and renewal business as well as complex accounts.

Responsibilities

• Technical Underwriting: apply risk selection, exposure, pricing, and guidelines to generate quotes and proposals.
• Portfolio Management: manage assigned book to meet growth, profitability, and mix goals across regions and lines.
• Sales Management: identify and solicit accounts, build agency relationships, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to win and retain business.
