Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Specialist Specialty – Merit Specialty (Wholesale) to expand our wholesale trading partner network and drive profitable growth. This role supports underwriting, sales, and portfolio management with a focus on Specialty accounts.

Based anywhere in the US (excluding NY & California), the role offers flexible work arrangements (hybrid or 100% remote) and opportunities to interact with agents and clients to deliver tailored insurance solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–7+ years Specialty or standard commercial lines experience.
• 3–4+ years’ experience driving agency relationships.
• Ability to adapt quickly and communicate with internal/external partners.
• Demonstrates judgment, risk analysis and decision making.
• Agile and collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and quote Specialty accounts for wholesale partners.
• Manage assigned portfolio to achieve growth and profitability.
• Develop and market Hanover capabilities to agents.
• Provide clear rating instructions and support to the agent.
• Collaborate with other Hanover units to deliver comprehensive solutions.
