Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Transmission to own the preliminary transmission line design and engineering lifecycle for solar, BESS, and interconnection projects. This role is fully remote with location details discussed in interviews.

You will serve as the primary technical owner from kickoff through handoff, aligning design basis, schedule, risks, and assumptions before execution begins. A strong background in transmission line design is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or civil engineering from an accredited institution.
• 3+ years of experience in transmission line design or related power engineering.
• Proficiency with transmission line design software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS).
• Strong understanding of NESC, IEEE, and utility standards.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass 10% transmission line design and routing; define assumptions and design basis.
• Review client documents, exhibits, and interconnection requirements to identify risks and scope.
• Coordinate inputs from engineering, survey, environmental, land, and other teams.
• Lead the development of the 10% design to support estimating and pricing.
• Prepare handoff materials for Preconstruction Engineering and transmit to HV team.
