Job summary

SOLV Energy is hiring a Design Engineer II, Transmission to own the preliminary transmission line design for solar, BESS, and interconnection projects. You will serve as the technical owner from kickoff through 10% design, aligning design basis, schedule, risks, and assumptions before execution.

The role is fully remote with location discussions during interviews. Requires 3+ years in transmission line design, a relevant engineering degree, and proficiency in PLS tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or related engineering is required.
• Proficiency in transmission line design software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS) is expected.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, utility and ISO standards is essential.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with cross-functional collaboration.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary transmission line and gen-tie design for assigned projects, defining design basis and assumptions for 10% design deliverables.
• Coordinate with estimating, scheduling and stakeholders to align scope, route, and costs.
• Engage with clients, review exhibits, interconnection requirements, and document non-standard items.
• Coordinate proposals with EORs and subcontractors, ensuring technical and commercial alignment.
• Prepare handoff materials for Preconstruction Engineering and transfer RFIs and risks to HV engineering teams.
• Review deliverables for compliance with NESC/IEEE and propose constructible design alternatives.
