Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Transmission to own the preliminary line design for utility-scale solar, BESS, and interconnection projects.

This fully remote role supports BD kickoff through design-to-preconstruction handoff, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to align design basis, route and interconnection requirements. The role leads the 10% design, routing and structure sizing, ensuring estimates, schedule and technical risks are addressed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or related engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in transmission line design or related power engineering.
• Proficiency in transmission line design software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS).
• Knowledge of NESC, IEEE and utility standards.
• Familiarity with interconnection requirements, right-of-way considerations, and contract language.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities for cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Preliminary Transmission Line Design and Technical Ownership for designated projects.
• Coordinate with estimating, scheduling, and BD to align scope, route, quantities and assumptions.
• Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to review exhibits and required inputs.
• Coordinate with EORs and engineering subcontracts; review proposals for scope and alignment.
• Prepare handoff packages to Preconstruction Engineering and HV teams.
• Review deliverables for compliance with NESC, IEEE, and owner requirements.
• Mentor team members and develop routing and design best practices.
