Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Transmission for the preliminary design and engineering lifecycle of utility-scale solar, BESS, and interconnection projects. The role is fully remote with location details discussed during interviews.

The engineer will own the first-pass design, coordinate inputs from multiple teams, and drive the 10% design to support estimates, schedules, and handoffs. 3+ years in transmission design and proficiency with PLS tools are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or related engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a nice-to-have, not a must.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in transmission line design or engineering, utility-scale renewable energy, gen-tie, or related power engineering.
• Demonstrated proficiency in transmission line design software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, or similar).
• Strong understanding of transmission line design principles, routing, conductor and shield wire selection, sag-tension, clearances, structure systems, foundations, and industry standards (NESC, IEEE, etc).
• Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements, right-of-way and permitting considerations, and contract language.

Responsibilities

• Preliminary Transmission Line Design and Technical Ownership: define design basis, route, interconnection requirements, and 10% design deliverable.
• Estimate and Scope Alignment: ensure design, route, and schedule align with estimates and BD.
• Client and Project Engagement: review technical exhibits, explanations, and risk clarifications with clients.
• EOR and Engineering Consultant Coordination: issue proposals and align with scope and LNTP requirements.
• Handoff and Early Execution Readiness: prepare scope, schedule, and transition details for Preconstruction team.
• Quality Assurance, Value Engineering, and Documentation: review deliverables against standards and document decisions and risks.
• Team Leadership and Development: assign work, supervise, and mentor junior staff.
