Job summary

Charter Steel is seeking a Technical Services Engineer to partner with customers, translate application requirements into material specifications, and ensure Charter products meet performance needs. The role collaborates with Sales, Marketing, Planning, and Operations to resolve technical issues and support new product development.

You will review specifications, respond to technical challenges, and act as a technical resource for the Sales function, while travel up to 40% across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Five or more years in process engineering or manufacturing using Charter products or steelmaking processes.
• Two or more years of experience involving customer interactions.
• Strong understanding of specialty metals or steelmaking processes.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn specification and MDS reviews and apply them to customer needs.
• Manage customer claims and respond to field issues.
• Lead or support New Product Development with Charter and customers.
• Review customer and product documents for relevancy/accuracy.
• Interpret customer specs to recommend Charter products for applications.
• Travel up to 40% to customer sites and Charter facilities.
