Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer to support material selection, process routing, and lab testing to meet customer specifications. The role involves evaluating claims, coordinating with customers and operations, and driving continuous improvement in steel production processes.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Metallurgical Engineering (or related field) with 2–4 years of experience and familiarity with AS/400, lab testing, and quality systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field with 2–4 years of experience.
• Associate degree or Journeyman Certification acceptable with demonstrated competency.
• Experience with metallurgical lab testing and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Proper selection and design/development of raw material to profitably produce products for customer demands with limited liability.
• Material reapplications and substitute materials recommendations
• Test validation and certification selection
• Process routing to achieve required properties
• Assist in reapplication of rejected customer material
• Perform technical evaluations of customer claims
• Visit customers for product/sales development
• Drive cost reductions with customers
• Interact with operating personnel on quality requirements
• Review data for continuous improvement
• Support corrective actions with metallurgical guidance
• Inspect steel during processing and monitor trial orders
• Collaborate with outside processors for technical needs
• Lab management as needed
• Assist with APQP and PPAP processes
• Other duties as assigned
