Job summary

Niche is hiring a Tech Lead Manager to own the technical and people leadership for the student-facing team in our two-sided marketplace. You will mentor engineers, drive performance, and partner with Product to evolve team delivery and learning.

You will stay hands-on in the codebase, tackle inbound technical work, and model AI-assisted development while shaping team health and culture. This role supports remote work with optional office collaboration.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering experience with regular code writing and review.
• Experience owning technical direction and people management.
• Ability to operate without a separate Tech Lead.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and workflows.
• Proven ability to make pragmatic technical trade-offs under delivery pressure.
• Experience with agile/Scrum-based team processes.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to inbound technical work, fix bugs, address debt, and implement smaller features.
• Partner with Product to adjust processes and establish effective rhythms for the team.
• Lead architecture discussions and guide your team’s technical direction.
• Balance hands-on coding with sustained people leadership and performance feedback.
