Job summary

Niche is seeking a Tech Lead Manager, Site Reliability to own a small SRE team responsible for reliable, scalable, and secure environments powering student and school applications. This role combines hands-on coding, architecture, and direct people leadership.

You will personally tackle inbound engineering work, manage technical debt, and drive improvements in observability, disaster recovery, and platform tooling.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of platform engineering experience with DevOps/SRE.
• Experience owning technical direction or people management.
• Comfort operating without a separate Tech Lead; final technical authority.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Proficient collaboration and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Take on inbound SRE and platform work as a working contributor.
• Own technical debt and infrastructure modernization within team's scope.
• Maintain deep understanding of all projects to push on it.
• Own delivery outcomes and reliability metrics.
• Guide technical direction through system design and code reviews.
• Own people leadership for 3-4 engineers, including growth and performance.
• Shape development process and team practices (Agile/Scrum or Kanban).
• Model AI-assisted development in hands-on work.
