Job summary

Charta Health in New York City is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to own the output of your team, set direction for a pod of engineers, and be accountable for what ships and for the growth of the people who ship it.

This is a player-coach role requiring time spent writing code, reviewing designs, and debugging production systems, with the rest focused on hiring, scoping, and removing blockers to help the team scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience shipping production code.
• At least 1 year of direct people management or tech lead experience with a track record of growing engineers.
• Fluency in backend languages such as Python, Node.js, Java, or C/C++. Next.js/React a plus.
• Experience building, testing, and deploying microservices; distributed systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Setting objectives and priorities for your pod and managing roadmap shifts.
• Owning problem analysis, solution design, and architecture for your team's surface area.
• Writing and reviewing production code and setting quality/documentation standards.
• Managing, coaching, and developing a team of up to five engineers.
• Partnering with product, design, and client-facing teams to scope customer problems.
• Leading hiring loops and raising engineering quality across the org.
