Space Inch is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a project while coding in Java, Spring, and Spring Boot for the majority of time. You will mentor engineers, organize delivery, and serve as the client’s technical point of contact.

The role combines deep technical work with light leadership in a remote-first, hybrid setup. You will collaborate across time zones, drive architecture decisions, and ensure production systems and microservices meet performance and reliability goals.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 1–2+ years hands-on engineering leadership experience.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Strong backend engineering and software architecture fundamentals.
• Fluent professional English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend applications and microservices using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Own technical decisions across architecture and system design.
• Write production-ready code and participate in code reviews.
• Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and support growth.
• Coordinate planning, prioritization, and delivery for a small team.
• Act as the primary day-to-day technical point of contact for the client.
