Job summary

Affirm is seeking a proven Technical Account Manager leader to guide a team serving our SMB merchants. You will mentor TAMs, align with Client Success and Product teams, and drive technical success post-sale across merchant integrations.

This remote-first role demands strong hiring instincts, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate merchant needs into scalable technical solutions, growth opportunities and better product outcomes.

Qualifications

• Five years in a b2b customer-facing technical role and three years as a people manager.
• Strong technical background in web development technologies and REST APIs, with a CS degree or professional engineering experience.
• Excellent relationship builder able to quickly establish rapport with engineering customers.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to advocate for customers internally and externally.
• Bonus: experience solving e-commerce or in-store retailer challenges.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach TAMs to support SMB merchants post-sale.
• Collaborate with Client Success, Product, Operations, and Merchant Care to drive merchant success.
• Establish and track team OKRs and proactive plans to meet goals.
• Forecast TAM demand and recruit as needed.
• Evaluate new hires for technical capabilities and guide on integration and optimization.
• Advocate for merchants across functions to align priorities.
