Remote Surgical Coding Specialist (ICD/CPT)

Job summary

IHA is seeking a Full-Time Surgical Coder for a 100% remote position. The coder will review and abstract professional billing records, ensure correct ICD-9 and CPT coding, and support billers with coding questions and denials.

The role requires at least two years of current surgical coding experience and a coding certification. Qualified candidates will have strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology and be able to work independently while adhering to hospital policies and compliance

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years current experience in surgical coding.
• Coding Certification required.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Code and abstract patient records for professional billing.
• Review records for correct diagnoses and procedures for reimbursement.
• Respond to coding questions from billers.
• Assist with insurance denials and re-filings as needed.
• Recommend process improvements related to registration and charge posting.
