Job summary

OSF HealthCare seeks a Coder to join our team. The role assigns accurate ICD-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and proper abstraction for statistics and reimbursement.

The coder works closely with the revenue cycle team to support correct billing, while meeting certification and education requirements and demonstrating strong communication and detail-oriented skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of AAPC or AHIMA coding certificate program with RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CCA/CPC family, or RHIA/RHIT-eligible within 1 year of hire.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; detail-oriented coding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures.
• Adheres to coding guidelines and abstracts information for statistics and reimbursement.
• Collaborates with revenue cycle team to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
