Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AHIMA/AAPC coder certification must be maintained annually.
• 2+ years of ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers experience.
• 2+ years of acute surgery experience.
• Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Excel; comfortable with EMR systems.
• Strong attention to detail and communication.

Responsibilities

• Expert knowledge in facility outpatient coding types: Same Day Surgery.
• Identify ICD-10, CPT and modifiers for facility services per guidelines.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AAPC and AHIMA.
• Maintain performance levels in coding quality and productivity.
• Understand APC codes and Medicare policies.
• Query physicians when appropriate and maintain up-to-date coding knowledge.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.
