Job summary

ENERCON Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation Drafter-Designer - Protection & Controls for multiple U.S. locations, including Overland Park, KS. The role may be filled as a Drafter or Designer based on experience, with focus on protection and control projects.

You will design substations, perform basic calculations, and collaborate with engineers to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery. Some travel and field support are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Substation drafting or designing, with a focus on protection and control projects.
• Familiarity with relay protection schemes.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Willingness to enter energized substations with proper training and PPE.
• Proficient with typical office software including Windows and Office suite.
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings.

Responsibilities

• Substation Design & Drafting: develop electric substation drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and building layouts.
• Engineering Analysis & Calculations: perform basic substation design calculations and analysis (voltage drop, conduit fill).
• Collaboration & Quality Assurance: work with peers to ensure accurate, on-time delivery meeting standards and practices.
• Field Support: provide on-site technical support for ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required.
