Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation, fully remote in the United States. You will own the preliminary substation design and technical ownership from kickoff through handoff, coordinating with engineers, procurement, estimators and clients to define requirements and schedule.

Responsibilities include leading the 10% design, developing single-line diagrams, and ensuring design accuracy. 3+ years in substation engineering and proficiency in AutoCAD/ETAP are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 3+ years in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and ETAP.
• Strong knowledge of substation design principles and protection schemes.
• Familiarity with IEEE, NEC, and NESC standards.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design and basis.
• Review client documents and identify requirements and risks.
• Coordinate technical inputs from engineering consultants and specialty subcontractors.
• Lead development of the 10% design including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Ensure alignment of design, quantities, and schedule with estimating and BD.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and gaps.
• Deliver owner reviewed preliminary design to estimating and BD.
• Participate in client meetings to review exhibits and requirements.
• Support LNTP related reviews and escalation of risks.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate work in the team.
