Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation, to own the preliminary design and engineering lifecycle for utility-scale solar and interconnection projects.

This role serves as the technical owner from kickoff through handoff and is fully remote. You will review client documents, coordinate inputs from engineering teams and subcontractors, lead the 10% design, and ensure alignment with estimates and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• 3+ years experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Knowledge of substation design principles and protection schemes.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design by reviewing inputs to define design basis, assumptions, equipment, layouts, quantities, risks and open items for the 10% design deliverable.
• Coordinate technical inputs from engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, scheduling, NERC support, revenue metering, security, and other subspecialties.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design, including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings to support estimating.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to ensure design, quantities, scope narrative, schedule and commercial assumptions are aligned.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and identify gaps, exclusions, and open items needing clarification.
• Deliver owner-reviewed preliminary substation design to estimating and BD per the stage-gate schedule.
