Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation for fully remote work. You will own the preliminary substation design lifecycle for utility-scale solar and related projects, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to align design, schedule, and risk.

This role requires strong leadership and expert knowledge in substation design. You will develop 10% design deliverables, review client documents, and support BD handoffs while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• PE licensure is a nice-to-have, not required.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Own the 10% design for subsystems, defining design basis and key assumptions.
• Review client documents and agreements to identify requirements and risks.
• Serve as the design SME and coordinate inputs from engineering consultants and subcontractors.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design including single-line diagrams and layouts.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to align design, scope, and commercial assumptions.
• Prepare and issue design deliverables for handoff to Preconstruction Engineering.
• Mentor junior team members and support process improvements.
