Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation for fully remote work. You will own the preliminary substation design and engineering lifecycle from kickoff through handoff, coordinating with clients and internal teams to define design basis, equipment needs, and risk items for 10% design deliverables.

Responsibilities include reviewing client documents, leading 10% design, interfacing with estimators, EORs, and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with schedule, and documenting decisions

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Bold text should not be included in description
• Proficiency with electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP) is required.
• Solid understanding of substation design principles and industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC).
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to electrical engineering and solar development.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design for assigned pursuits and projects, defining design basis, equipment requirements, layouts, quantities, risks, and open items for 10% design deliverables.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design, including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings for estimating.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to ensure design, quantities, scope narrative, and commercial assumptions are aligned.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and identify gaps, exclusions, and open items needing clarification or escalation.
• Deliver owner-reviewed preliminary substation design to estimating and BD per the project schedule.
