Job summary

SOLV Energy, a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own the preliminary substation design and lifecycle for solar, BESS, and interconnection projects. This role acts as the primary technical owner from kickoff through Design-to-Preconstruction handoff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 3+ years in electrical substation engineering.
• Familiar with utility interconnection requirements and contract language.
• Strong understanding of substation design principles and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assigned pursuits and projects.
• Lead development of 10% substation design including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Coordinate inputs from engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, scheduling, and other specialists.
• Review client documents, exhibits, and interconnection agreements to identify requirements and risks.
• Prepare for handoff to Preconstruction Engineering and transfer RFIs and design risks.
