SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation who will own the preliminary substation design and engineering lifecycle for utility-scale solar, BESS, and interconnection projects.

You will serve as the technical owner from BD kickoff through design-to-preconstruction handoff, aligning design basis, scope, schedule, risk, and assumptions before execution begins. The role emphasizes coordinating inputs from engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, and other specialists,

Qualifikationen

• Bachelorfs degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar design software.
• Strong understanding of substation design principles, protection schemes, and industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC).
• Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and contract language.

Aufgaben

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assigned pursuits and projects.
• Review client documents, technical exhibits, PPAs, interconnection agreements to identify requirements and risks.
• Serve as the primary substation design SME coordinating inputs from engineering, procurement, estimating, scheduling, and other subs.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design, including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Prepare handoff to Preconstruction Engineering with aligned schedule, scope, and assumptions.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to keep design, quantities, and commercial items aligned.
• Mentor junior team members and support training in substation design, protection, and metering.
