Job summary

Powerserve Technologies is seeking a Substation Design Engineer (Civil/Structural) to support our Florida projects. The role focuses on civil and structural design for electrical substations, collaborating with electrical, procurement, and construction teams to deliver constructible designs.

Ideal candidates have a civil/structural background, 3+ years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and STAAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 3+ years of civil/structural design experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD or similar
• Strong understanding of structural analysis, foundations, and site development
• Ability to work cross-functionally in an EPC/project-based environment
• PE license preferred; willing to obtain licensure within 2–3 years of hire

Responsibilities

• Design and develop civil and structural components of electrical substations
• Prepare and review foundation designs (equipment, control buildings, steel structures)
• Create and review structural steel layouts and details
• Plan site grading, drainage, and erosion control
• Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and code compliance reviews
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure design feasibility
• Collaborate with clients, utilities, and permitting agencies
• Provide occasional field support during construction (light travel within Florida)
• Review and approve drawings, specifications, and submittals
• Ensure designs meet IEEE, ASCE, ACI and local/state codes
