Job summary

Tailscale is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to bridge customer needs with our technical platform. You will onboard strategic customers, drive long-term adoption, and provide expert guidance throughout their journey.

You will work with sales, product, and engineering to resolve issues, design successful deployments, and share best practices. Strong networking, security, and cloud experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a technical role with minimum 2 years of customer-facing experience.
• Experience with enterprise customers in a consultative capacity.
• Strong understanding of networking, VPNs, and security principles.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Analytical mindset with troubleshooting skills.
• Strong collaboration with product, sales and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead onboarding for strategic customers and drive long-term adoption.
• Provide technical support, diagnose, and resolve issues across the platform.
• Conduct QBRs to review usage, metrics, and future goals.
• Advise customers on best practices and optimize their use of Tailscale.
• Relay customer feedback to product and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with sales, product, engineering, and support for handoffs.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and self-serve guides.
