Job summary

Schweiger Dermatology Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day and month-end accounting operations. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, and assisting with audits to ensure accurate general ledger integrity and timely monthly close.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, 1–3 years of experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• One to three years of general accounting experience; new graduates with relevant internship experience considered.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups.
• Experience with an ERP or general ledger system; multi-location or healthcare industry experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines during close.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries as directed by the Accounting Manager, including accruals, prepaid amortization, reclassifications, and recurring and standard entries, ensuring each entry is properly supported and documented.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and other general ledger accounts; research and resolve variances and elevate unusual items on a timely basis.
• Assist with audit requests by compiling schedules, supporting documentation, and reconciliations for internal and external auditors, and respond to follow-up inquiries as directed.
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process by completing assigned tasks in accordance with the published close calendar.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready workpapers and reconciliation files in accordance with company policy and documentation standards.
• Analyze general ledger activity for accuracy and completeness, and assist in investigating and correcting posting errors.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting schedules and variance analysis for review by the Accounting Manager.
• Perform assigned accounting tasks in accordance with established procedures and internal controls, and bring suggested improvements to the Accounting Manager.
• Support ad hoc projects, analyses, and other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
