Job summary

Alera Group is seeking a Spending Accounts, Funding Specialist to manage daily funding and banking activity, reconcile accounts, and maintain documentation for audit trails. You will coordinate with Claims, Billing, Finance, and Account Management to resolve funding issues and ensure accurate client fund handling.

The role emphasizes meticulous reconciliation, timely processing of payments, and ongoing process improvements within a fully remote environment tied to Eastern or Central Time Zones.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in funding, financial operations, reconciliations, banking operations, benefits administration, or related field.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to research, analyze, and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Experience with financial reports, reconciliations, and transaction processing.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, filtering, data validation).
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and monitor daily funding and banking activity for spending account plans.
• Complete NACHA, Positive Pay, ACH repulls/reissues, and other banking transactions.
• Validate payment activity and resolve ACH rejections, check exceptions, and funding issues.
• Identify, apply, deposit, and track incoming client funds, refunds, repayments, and transfers.
• Complete true-ups and funding reconciliations, including monthly and year-end activity.
• Research and resolve discrepancies across funding, payments, credits, voids, and system records.
• Maintain accurate reconciliation records and elevate financial risks or shortages.
• Process check voids, client credits, refunds, and returned funds.
• Coordinate with payment partners (WEX, JP Morgan, Bancorp).
• Monitor and respond to funding inquiries and support final reconciliations for terminating groups.
