Job summary

The Mom Project seeks an autonomous Controller/VP of Accounting to oversee the entire accounting ecosystem in a fully remote capacity. You will be the sole accountant, supervising two operational non-accountant specialists, and ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting through month-, quarter-, and year-end closes.

This role requires an ironclad work ethic, forensic mindset, and the ability to unpack complex transactional flows.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience in staffing/marketplace.
• Proven ability to run full-cycle close as an independent contributor.
• Experience with multi-state payroll, taxes, and regulatory filings.
• Strong analytical and forensic data-tracing skills.
• Advanced Excel modeling and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Full-Cycle Autonomous Accounting: own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
• Forensic Oversight & Data Lineage: analyze and reconcile transactional flows across a multi-product line ecosystem.
• Strategic Financial Partnership: provide insights and partner with CFO on budgets and rolling cash flow forecasts.
• Operational Leadership: manage 2 non-accountant specialists.
• Process Architecture: design internal controls and accounting workflows.
• Tax & Compliance Administration: manage payroll taxes and corporate filings.
