Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote US-based position in the Veterans Affairs portfolio. The role requires extensive experience in manual and automated testing, strong programming skills, and familiarity with SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and test automation tools.

You will develop test plans, write test cases, execute tests, document results, and drive defect resolution while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in common languages (C#, Java, Python) and experience on complex software projects.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and SDLC concepts.
• Proficiency in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation tools and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with defect tracking and management tools and version control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure requirements are met.
• Create test plans, schedules, and approaches; write test cases and scripts.
• Conduct walkthroughs with stakeholders on test artifacts.
• Perform and lead tests of software and IT systems for defects.
• Document, communicate, and analyze test results; support issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reports; contribute to test reviews.
