Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote role with the Veterans Affairs department. The position requires deep programming skills in C#, .NET, Java, or Python, and experience in automated/manual testing within an Agile/SDLC framework.

The role involves developing test plans and cases, leading verification efforts, and producing daily metrics while collaborating with project teams.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, .Net, Java, or Python.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases and test plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner.
• CI/CD exposure with GitHub Actions.
• Version control familiarity with Git/Subversion.
• Understanding of performance testing tools like JMeter/Gatling.
• Experience with defect tracking tools like JIRA/Bugzilla.
• Knowledge of SQL for validating stored data.
• Testing of web apps, APIs, and services.
• Security testing concepts and tools.
• Various testing types: functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to validate information systems.
• Create test plans, schedules, and approaches.
• Write test cases/scripts and select data for scenarios.
• Review test artifacts with stakeholders.
• Lead tests to ensure defect-free operation of software/IT systems.
• Perform verification activities using defined methods and environments.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support issue resolution and data analysis.
• Create daily test metrics and reports.
• Mentor junior testers and guide best practices.
