Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote U.S. based role in the Veterans Affairs department.

The position emphasizes strong programming skills, extensive testing across web APIs and services, and a blend of manual and automated testing in an Agile environment. Applicants should have 10+ years of experience, security clearance eligibility (Public Trust), and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

Requires strong programming skills (C#, Java, Python) and experience on complex software projects.
Experience in both manual and automated testing within SDLC and Agile environments.
Proficient in writing/executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans; familiar with test management tools.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure systems meet requirements.
Write test cases/scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers and leads; lead tests to ensure defect-free operation.
Document and communicate test results and support issue resolution.
Create daily test metrics and reports; mentor junior testers as needed.
