Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate high-performance AI/ML cloud infrastructure. You will bridge MLOps and DevSecOps, deploying scalable architectures for enterprise and public-sector clients in private, hybrid, and government clouds.

Fully remote in the United States, you will serve as a customer-facing SME, translating mission challenges into architectures and supporting technical scoping during service engagements.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Proficient in Kubernetes including RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets management.
• Experience designing and deploying infrastructure across major clouds; Terraform or similar IaC; Git-based workflows.
• Automation proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiarity with CIS/NIST or FedRAMP security baselines.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters optimized for AI/ML workloads across cloud environments.
• Serve as technical SME in client engagements, presenting solutions and scoping during engagements.
• Collaborate with delivery and account teams to scope, validate, and demonstrate modern AI/ML and DevSecOps architectures.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitOps with security guardrails from day one.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated container vulnerability scans, artifact tracking, and audit logging.
• Proactively monitor platform performance, capacity, and telemetry; participate in on-call rotation and post-incident analyses.
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to enforce network segmentation, data isolation, and encryption across pipelines.
• Produce client-ready technical documentation, reference architectures, runbooks, and diagrams.
