Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is seeking a part-time Sign Language Interpreter for a short-term, 2-week assignment in November 2026 with a school district. This remote role runs Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–2:30 PM, supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classroom settings and related school activities.

You will interpret spoken English into ASL and ASL into spoken English in real time, collaborate with educators, and help ensure equal access to instruction while maintaining FERPA compliance and student

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Active GaPSC Educational Interpreter License.
• RID certification or EIPA score 3.5+.
• Experience with school-based interpreting preferred.
• Familiarity with remote interpreting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote sign language interpreting services for deaf/hard-of-hearing students.
• Interpret spoken English into sign language and vice versa in real time.
• Support student understanding while preserving teacher communication.
• Collaborate with teachers, SPED staff, and related service providers.
• Assist with implementing IEPs as appropriate.
• Maintain FERPA confidentiality and district policies.
• Adapt interpreting style to student needs.
• Attend meetings and trainings as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
