Job summary

Ampersand Therapy LLC seeks a part-time Sign Language Interpreter for a short-term, 2-week remote assignment with a Conyers, GA school district in November 2026.

Responsibilities include providing real-time interpretation between spoken English and Sign Language, supporting IEP implementation, and collaborating with teachers and special education staff to ensure equal access to instruction for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Active Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Educational Interpreter License
• Current RID certification or qualifying EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and educational interpreting practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote sign language interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom settings and school-related activities.
• Interpret spoken English into sign language and sign language into spoken English in real time.
• Support student understanding of instructional content while maintaining the integrity of teacher communication.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student success.
• Assist in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
• Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student communication needs.
• Participate in meetings and training as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
