Job summary

Stride, Inc. seeks a part-time Sign Language Interpreter contractor (1099) to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a virtual setting. Responsibilities include live interpretation and transliteration of content per IEPs, collaboration with educators and caregivers, and participation in IEP meetings.

Candidates should hold RID NIC certification or state licensure, have at least 1 year of educational interpreting experience, and be proficient with MS365 from a remote home office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience interpreting in an educational environment.
• Minimum 1 year experience providing interpreting services virtually.
• Ability to work independently with availability during typical school hours (min. 20 hrs/week).
• MS365 Proficient.
• Ability to clear required background check.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and transliterate content in live, synchronous virtual academic settings as per IEPs.
• Adapt language and materials to meet students’ needs with hearing loss.
• Collaborate with teachers, caregivers, and related service providers to ensure services align with IEPs.
• Attend IEP meetings as an integral member of the team.
• Provide interpretation for school activities outside of virtual classroom and meetings with caregivers.
• Uphold standards per the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
