Job summary

Delaware North is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to support and advance its transmission engineering practice. Fully remote in the United States, you will lead complex designs, provide senior technical direction, mentor engineers, and ensure high‑quality deliverables for utility clients.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in transmission line engineering, strong leadership, and proficiency with PLS-CADD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering.
• 8+ years of transmission line engineering experience.
• 8+ years with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.
• 8+ years of experience working in PLS-CADD.
• People management and mentorship experience.
• Ability to plan and manage assignments and clearly communicate barriers to complete tasks on budget/schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee complex transmission line designs from conceptual engineering through final design.
• Provide senior-level technical expertise and direction to design staff, ensuring technical accuracy and best practices.
• Perform key engineering studies such as conductor economic evaluations and grounding calculations.
• Interpret and apply regulatory requirements including NERC, FERC, and regional standards.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, data sheets, RFQs, and vendor drawings.
• Collaborate with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
• Perform QA/QC for engineering deliverables, CAD outputs, and field issues.
• Conduct field inspections, measurements, and installation reviews for clients.
• Develop and present technical reports and support business development efforts.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to less experienced engineers.
