Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to maintain and optimize cloud-based production systems. You will provide frontline operational support for complex applications and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.

The role requires 8+ years in systems engineering, strong Linux/Windows skills, and expertise with AWS/Azure, IaC, CI/CD, and security best practices. This is a remote U.S.-based opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in systems engineering or related field, production environments.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and automation/CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices in analyzing situations or data.
• Detect, isolate, document, and resolve outages with recovery activities.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work directly with the customer in day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software problems and escalate when required.
• Communicate status of key problem statuses to users and management.
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
• Implement continuous improvement through IT systems or procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets.
• Ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies.
• Provide documentation, training, and additional duties as assigned.
