Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to lead MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs across the lifecycle for a remote U.S.-based role. You will collaborate with systems engineering, software, electrical and hardware teams, and customer safety representatives to ensure hazard analyses and safety requirements are properly allocated and implemented.

Preferred candidates hold a DoD security clearance and have hands-on experience with MIL-STD-882E and DO-178.

Qualifications

Requires STEM degree and 5+ years related experience.
Experience in System Safety, Systems, Software/Firmware, Electrical or Safety Engineering.
Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
Experience with Patriot Air Defense System and Safety/Validation.
Active/transferable DoD security clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
Perform hazard and design analyses to meet requirements and standards.
Coordinate with customer safety reps and Safety Review Board authorities for safety approvals.
Collaborate across engineering disciplines to mitigate hazards and implement controls.
Support lifecycle safety from startup to disposal phases.
Prepare internal and customer-facing safety reports and program status updates.
