Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a System Safety engineer to develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs across software and hardware. You will assess risks, collaborate with software and systems teams, and support program management from concept through deployment.

The role requires a STEM background and extensive experience in system safety and software engineering, with DoD/DoD-aligned standards familiarity.

Qualifications

• Requires a STEM degree and at least five years of relevant experience.
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, or medical devices with system safety and software engineering.
• Familiar with MIL-STD-882E and risk assessment concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs across task series 100–400.
• Analyze software/firmware per MIL-STD-882E, DO-178, and related standards.
• Collaborate with software teams to review and analyze code.
• Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and briefs for customer approval.
• Interface with customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Coordinate System Safety Working Groups and support Special Access Programs.
