Job summary

First Merchants is seeking an SBL Closing Specialist III to join our team. This role manages the closing process from approval through funding, ensuring SBA and internal bank requirements are met, while guiding and developing staff.

The position offers remote work within our footprint and requires strong knowledge of SBA SOP, LaserPro, and loan documentation. You will coordinate with customers, title companies, and auditors to finalize closings efficiently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills.
• LaserPro experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage the closing process from loan approval through funding.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff; serve as lead trainer and protocol developer.
• Coordinate with customers and third parties to gather necessary information.
• Review closing documents and prepare IRS forms and tax transcripts.
• Order appraisals, title work, and third-party reports; ensure regulatory compliance.
