First Merchants Corporation is seeking an SBL Closing Specialist III to join our team. This role handles the full closing process from approval through funding and mentors staff as needed, with remote work within our footprint.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree, 7+ years of closing experience, LaserPro proficiency, and strong communication and organizational skills to ensure compliance and timely closures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills.
• LaserPro experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving, with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple loan submissions in various stages.

Responsibilities

• Oversee closing process from approval through funding and maintain files meeting SBA and internal requirements.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff; act as lead trainer and protocol developer.
• Coordinate with customers and third parties to gather necessary information.
• Prepare closing documents and supporting materials in LaserPro.
• Review documents such as operating agreements, LLCs and title work.
• Order appraisals, environmental reports, tax transcripts, and flood determinations.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and accurate lien perfection.
• Manage time and priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
