Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Project Developer for a fully remote role focused on identifying, evaluating, and securing solar and wind projects. You will manage the full development lifecycle from site identification through PPAs, working with a distributed team of experts and stakeholders worldwide.

Candidates should have 8+ years in renewable energy project development, strong negotiation and financial modeling skills, and deep knowledge of the SA market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on solar and/or wind.
• Proven success in originating, developing, and bringing to financial close renewable energy projects.
• In-depth knowledge of SA renewable energy market, REIPPPP, regulations, and grid interconnection.
• Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and financial modeling skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects remotely.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and secure opportunities for new renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Conduct feasibility studies, including site assessments, resource analysis, and grid connection studies.
• Develop and manage project budgets and financial models.
• Negotiate and secure key project agreements, including land leases, PPAs, and interconnection agreements.
• Manage the permitting and regulatory approval process for projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with landowners, local communities, government authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and finance teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay abreast of market trends, policy changes, and competitive landscape in the renewable energy sector.
• Prepare detailed project proposals and presentations for internal approvals and external partners.

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in the global Energy sector, is seeking an accomplished Senior Renewable Energy Project Developer for a fully remote position. This role is instrumental in identifying, evaluating, and securing new renewable energy projects, with a focus on solar and wind.
